Welcome to the 2008-2009 Season

Thank you to all our patrolling members for making the 2007-2008 patrolling season such a successful one.

Patrols for the 2008-2009 season begin on Saturday the 27th September, we will be patrolling the extended hours like we did last year over the school and Christmas holiday period. This worked very well last year and many of the rescues we performed were in the 'extra' hour between 5-6pm.

Registrations will commence for the new season on Sundays the 14th and the 21st September 2008 at 10:00am at Tomaree Aquatic Centre and an additional morning registration on the 28th of September at the Birubi Clubhouse so watch out for the new newsletter and the adverts in the Port Stephens Examiner.

Once again Mick Denahy is your Club Captain this season and he will be sending out the first part of the new roster which will take us up to Christmas. As usual he will be looking for volunteers for the Christmas and Boxing Day patrols. Please consider giving just a few hours over the holidays if you can, many hands make light work!

Good luck and have fun

A few things to remember about being a good patrol member:

  • Keep your qualifications up to date
  • Wear full patrol uniform i.e cap, long sleeved patrol shirt and patrol shorts
  • Remember Slip Slop Slap
  • Attempt to show up for your rostered patrol. If you are unable to do so, organise a swap well before the date of your patrol. If you don't you may jeopardise your 100% attendance award.
  • Remember to sign on and off patrols (if you fail to do so, you may not be credited with the patrol hours)
  • Keep hydrated on Patrol
  • Wash and store patrol equipment at the end of the patrol with care as it saves people time and saves the equipment.
  • Remember to log all incidents and IRB hours
